NESU in Finland
In Finland, NESU has expanded itself to every city that has a university with business-related studies. At the moment, these cities are Helsinki, Turku, Tampere, Pori, Jyväskylä, Oulu, Mikkeli, Lappeenranta, Joensuu, Kuopio, and Vaasa. Each city has a NESU board, commission, or coordinator. NESU Finland is the umbrella organization of NESU cities in Finland.
The most visible functions around Finland are the almost weekly held sitsi-parties, or academic dinner parties. Despite the name and strictly followed traditions associated with the sitsi-party culture, the events are quite laid-back and rather eventful towards the end. Other NESU events organized in Finland are NESU-Dagen organized in January, and the Summer Cottage party organized in August. Different cities also have other events than sitsi-parties, such as NESU-KY’s Dammarit and Herrarit, and NESU-TuKY’s NESU-Cruise.
The main mission of NESU Finland is to coordinate the cooperation between Finnish NESU cities and spread NESU to other Nordic countries.
NESU Finland is led by a country representative with the support of a board elected of members of different NESU cities. Along with the board, NESU Finland has its own commission composed of the presidents of NESU boards and commissions, and NESU coordinators of all the NESU cities in Finland
